2009 Celebrity Prom DressesThe Latest Red Carpet Glitz and Glamour
Carrie Underwood's Randi Rahm dress at the 2009 Country Music Awards (CMAs). The pale pink color and gorgeous texture makes Carrie look so elegant. It's a simple single-shoulder design but very sweet and attractive. Perfect for either junior or senior prom. The color is a little old-fashioned but it's subtle and like everything else about this beauty, unpretentious. The glitz is in the sparkly shoulder strap.
Miley Cyrus in charcoal evening dress by Monique Lhuillier, the most popular celebrity fashion designer for brides. Like Carrie Underwood, Miley (16) also has a one-shoulder gown. It looks pretty conservative until you see the long flirty side slit. Her shoulder strap has even more bling than Carrie's. It's totally jazzed up with rhinestones and a bunch of other stuff in many different colors. The ruching at the waist is fairly low-key but almost to the point it looks wrinkled. So if you buy this type of dress for prom, make sure the fit is perfect.
Emmy Rossum in sleeveless, pale, mint, layered evening dress. Sort of a vintage look, but it looks light and very feminine. Because the layers are from top to bottom in one long column, it makes Emmy look a little taller. The wide band around her waist has lots of sequins in green and black (or burgundy?). Quite simple but also memorable.
Coco Rocha is wearing a dramatic black-and-white evening gown. It is slimming by the use of colors (black on sides) and very flattering. The bodice area section makes it look as if she's wearing jewelry. The top is ruffly and pretty. It is different and bold but still very classy.
Julianne Hough (April 5, 2009) in a new, long, sparkly glamour gown.
Jennifer Love Hewitt in sexy backless white formal dress by Robert Rodriguez. Decent idea for an early summer prom. It has just a few layers at the top with gentle, ruffled trim. However, it looks a bit like a bib! A unique feature is the tied halter-spaghetti strap at the nape of her neck.
Mermaid dresses for prom don't get much better than this! Kellie Pickler's elaborate strapless gold gown by Zuhair Murad plays up the mermaid design to full effect with shiny pieces that look like scales. It is tight-fitting and a little low-cut, but it has all the drama you might expect for a high-fashion prom girl. It matches her hair color and goes with her big gold ring.
Melissa George in white mermaid dress by Dolce and Gabbana at the 2009 Oscars.
Beyonce Knowles in black mermaid gown with large gold floral print design. Rare style. You don't see floral prints on evening dresses too much nowadays.
Anne Hathaway's amazing dress by Armani Prive at the 2009 Academy Awards. Wow! Gorgeous gown and perfect pose. Glittery silver stripes all over. It reeks of modern sophistication. If you want your prom photos to come out looking great, you must start with the perfect dress. This will do it. :)
Heidi Klum in deep coral evening gown by Roland Mouret. The Runway hostess triples the power of red with sexy satin; she has a vivid gown plus matching formal heels and clutch. That's a lot of red! Beyond the near overdose of evening's most classic color--amped up--the German supermodel's dress has a rare origami structure with sharp edges. The shoulder, indeed, has a 90-degree edge. Origami styles, however, are best suited for more subtle colors; it's just too extreme to have a bold color and a bold cut! Overall it's so loud it's screaming. You might be able to get away with this dress if you have shoes and accessories that can tone it down and take some attention away from the red. The funky bangles aren't helping, either. They are okay on their own but unsuitable with the gown.
Virginia Madsen in Kevan Hall (Spring 2009). This exact gown may not be suitable for prom, but it shows you an example of an alternative style with its dramatic, sharply angled, asymmetrical neckline. The train is chunky, clunky, flat, and even severe; it has none of the softness found in most prom dresses. The hard edges or "clean lines" are everywhere.
Thandie Newton in pretty black vintage evening dress with lots of gold stripes. She wore this special red-carpet gown by Blumarine at the 2009 BAFTAs (UK). Black girls look great in black and gold. (See Beyonce in picture above for another example.) It's one of the more popular formal color combinations for American American women. It works perfectly with the classic evening style of special gold jewelry and black dress shoes.
Alana Grace in an adorable little black dress with fingerless black lace opera gloves.
Freida Pinto (24) in long pale pink gown. This style could be nice enough for prom. Besides the traditional prom color, her special strapless creation has very pretty fabric and lots of layers from top to bottom. It is quite conservative but also looks elegant, sophisticated, and unique. For the bodice part, though, it could seem as if she's wrapped in bandages. It's a couture designer gown by Oscar de la Renta himself! If we could be so lucky as to have our prom dresses custom-made by one of the top fashion designers in the world. ABS by Allen Schwartz, however, has been known to create celebrity style dresses from premieres, award shows, and other Hollywood events. Prom.net "Look Like A Star. Feel Like A Princess."™ |
